![]() The longer Unread has gone without any keyboard support, the more frustrated I've been with it's lack as I sit at my desk reading and writing about the articles. That's not to say that Unread hasn't been getting updates, but they've been stability and bug fixes instead of feature enhancements. Both keyboard navigation and subscription management are high priorities for future versions. ![]() Yes, Unread responded to my criticism over 200 days ago saying it was on their list, but it's been 200 days with no update on that Thank you for using and writing about Unread. Unread had no keyboard shortcuts, which seems fairly problematic as more and more users are making their iPad's their main work machine. You can't subscribe or unsubscribe from anything inside Unread.įor that reason alone I kept Reeder 3 around but it wasn't my only issue with Unread. Now Unread has some faults, most glaringly it's entire lack of the ability to manage any aspect of your feeds. It was so much better I felt that Instapaper needed to take a step forward to keep up. Then my feed-reading experience would be excellent.Ī while ago I said that Unread was the new bar for having a beautifully readable interface for your text based content. Now, if only the developer of Newsfire would add Google Reader syncing. Really, it strikes me as the 'Tweetie 2 of RSS readers.' It's one of the apps that easily earns its spot on page one of my iPod's home screen. If you exit the app to check your email, Reeder resumes right where you left-off when you come back. Reeder 2 now offers state-saving functionality, as well. ![]() (You can turn the feature off if you don't like it.) This takes awhile, but you can still read while it works. Once that is done, the app starts caching all of the images it can find in the feeds so you can still see them when offline. It only takes 3-5 seconds to download about 250 unread items. In version 2, a free upgrade for existing users, that has finally been fixed. The only real problem was that Google Reader sync was slow. When I first started using Reeder, I thought the interface was pretty good. Sure, there are a few, but not many are as refined as Reeder. Why is it so hard to find a good RSS reader for the iPhone?. Easy enough, don't you think ? :) Let's now take advantage of WPF binding capabilities to create a very simple graphical RSS reader : ![]()
